Alhambra Elementary School District provides education for more than 14,000 students in the Phoenix and Glendale areas of Arizona. Alhambra has 15 schools. These schools educate students from kindergarten to eighth grade.
Alhambra Elementary School District's Superintendent is Dr. Jim Rice. Jim Rice received Arizona Superintendent of the year in 2006. He also has received ASU College of Education Hall of Fame Award (2005), Superintendent's Contributions to Public Education (2004), and Distinguished Administrator of the Year (2002).
The Alhambra School District was organized on August 6, 1888. The first school was a one room brick building on Shady Lane, now known as 33rd Avenue, between Grand Avenue and Indian School Road. Today, the Alhambra Elementary School District is no longer a small school on the west side of Phoenix. They now serve over 14,000 students in preschool through eighth grades, and have 15 schools.
Alhambra Traditional School educates students from kindergarten to eighth grade. Alhambra Traditional School is a top-ranked school in Arizona. Alhambra Traditional is labeled as an excelling school.[1] Alhambra Traditional Principal is currently Dr. Tracey Lopeman. The school is located at 3736 West Osborn, Phoenix, Arizona 85019.[2]
Andalucia Middle School educates students from fourth to eighth grades. The School's Principal is currently Monique Martinez-Ortiz. The assistant principal is Dr. Sharon Spearman. The school is located at 4730 West Campbell, Phoenix, Arizona 85031.[3][4]
Andalucia Primary School is a 2007 A+ School. It educates students from kindergarten to third grade. The School's Principal is currently Jaime Camacho. The school is located at 4530 West Campbell, Phoenix, Arizona 85031.[5]
Barcelona Middle School began educating students in 1965. BMS educates students from fourth to eighth grades. The School's Principal is currently Tyson Kelly. The school is located at 6530 North 44th Avenue, Glendale, Arizona 85301.[6][7]
Carol G. Peck Elementary School educates students from kindergarten to third grade. The School's Principal is currently Judy Gill. The school is located at 5810 North 49th Avenue, Glendale, Arizona 85301.[8][9]
Catalina Ventura is 2005 A+ School.[10] Current Principal is Melissa Gonzalez and assistant Lisa Gebbia. Teachers and staff at Catalina are best of the best like their well known and favorite junior high math instructor John Garcia. Catalina's school enviorment are warm and welcoming, and student are well situated at there. Catalina Ventura is located ar 6331 North 39th Ave in Phoenix, Arizona.[11][10]
Cordova Middle School educates students from fourth to eighth grades. The School's Principal is currently Mrs.Chavez.The school is located at 5631 North 35th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85017.[12][13]
Cordova Primary School educates students from kindergarten to third grade. It is a 2008 A+ school. The School's Principal is currently Peggy Watral. The school is located at 5631 North 35th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85017.[14][15]
Granada East School educates students from fourth to eighth grades. The School's Principal is currently Sandy Kennedy. The school is located at 3022 West Campbell, Phoenix, Arizona 85017.[16][17]
Granada Primary School educates students from kindergarten to third grade. The School's Principal is currently Theresa Killingsworth. The school is located at 3232 West Campbell, Phoenix Arizona 85017.[18][19]
Montebello School educates students from grades K-8. The School's Principal is currently Dr. Jeff Sprout. The school is located at 5725 North 27th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85017.[20][21]
Sevilla Primary School educates students from grades K-3. The school is a 2007 A+ school.[22] The School's Principal is currently Mandi Caudill. Sevilla Primary School is located at 3801 West Missouri, Phoenix, Arizona 85019.[23][22]
Sevilla West School educates students from grades 4-8. The School's Principal is currently Kathy Davis. The school is a 2008 A+ school.[24] Sevilla West was chosen most of the times by district for special events for the district since Sevilla West has the largest multipurpose room in the district. (R. E.) Simpson School educates students from grades 4-8. The current principal is Cynthia Nicholas. The school is located at 5330 North 23rd Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85015.[26][27]
Westwood Primary School educates students from grades K-3. The current principal is Lori Weiss. The school is a 2006 A+ school.[28] This is the site that housed the districts first back to basics school in 1983, it was later returned to a neighborhood school and the district traditional school was moved to the current Alhambra location. The school is located at 4711 North 23rd Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85015.[29][28]
The district opened a high school to serve the needs of its community in the late 2000s. It is legally a public charter, as a non-unified Arizona school district cannot teach both elementary and high school students.
